| FIELD NOTES: Barbara Cheatley,
was my first client after leaving a large landscape architectural firm. This was the perfect experience, perfect client, perfect
result after working for such a large firm. At the firm we designed tract homes for the billionaire, Eli Broad, for his company
"Kaufman Broad". Although I enjoyed working with talented people, I was not happy with the way we were forcing so much real estate
on small plots of land. Throughout my childhood, with the encouragement of my Mother, I had a great dream of
designing gardens for people.... working for this firm, was so far from that dream. Barbara grounded me and reinspired me
to be the landscape architect I am today. Residential design is all about the client, not only creating a beautiful garden based on
the wishes of a client, but also solving existing problems.
Barbara owns the smart and stylish "Barbara Cheatley Antiques" in downtown Claremont. She loves art in the garden amd lots
of flowers. Barbara's home is one of the old Victorian homes in Ontario with lots of charm, just like her! Adjacent to her
existing swimming pool is a guest house, what she needed was a pretty garden and path system to connect the pool/guest house
to the main house, plus a few secret areas. Below are some of the photographs of what we installed.
